Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 named ‘outstanding’ in Auto Motor und Sport test

German magazine Auto Motor und Sport has named the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 as ‘outstanding’ in its latest summer tire test, praising the ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire’s all-round performance and safety.

Tested in the 245/45R19 size with an Audi A6 test car, Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 was evaluated against nine competitors in criteria including dry and wet handling and braking, resistance to aquaplaning, rolling resistance and road noise1. With an average score of 9.0/10, it was the only tire to be given an ‘überragend’ (‘outstanding’) rating.

Auto Motor und Sport’s testers praised Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6’s “very short braking distances, outstanding grip, high cornering stability, [and] sporty but easy controllability on dry surface,” concluding that it also has “largely safe, dynamic, very controllable wet performance”2.

Compared to its predecessor, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 features new technology to improve dry performance, wet braking, wet handling and electric vehicle suitability in order to reach its mantra: ‘Ready for Anything’3.

Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 was initially rolled out in 28 sizes at the start of 2022. Additional fitments will be released throughout the year. By 2023, it will be available in no fewer than 65 sizes from 17 to 22-inch fitments.

Laurent Colantonio, Regional Technology Director EMEA, Goodyear: “We are pleased that Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 has been recognised with its first major test win. Auto Motor und Sport’s ‘outstanding’ rating underlines the tire’s versatile performance in dry and wet conditions that make it ‘Ready for Anything’. Our development team at the Goodyear Innovation Center Luxembourg (GIC*L) have introduced new materials and technology to achieve this and create a tire that, thanks to its additional reduction in rolling resistance and noise levels, is ready for the next generation of mobility.”
