Goodyear to support transport companies with the mandatory TPMS use legislation
New legislation applicable to Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) will come into effect across Europe from 7th July. The new law outlines the minimum operating standard for TPMS devices, including the data that’s displayed to drivers in real-time.
From 7th July, all new commercial vehicles must be equipped with a working TPMS on all tires, including trailers, at the point of registration.[1] The most significant element of the new legislation is that any detected tire pressure change greater than 20% must now be displayed inside the vehicle. This will warn drivers of a potential tire issue before the tire becomes dangerous or at risk of damage. With the new legislation quickly approaching, Goodyear supports the changes, saying it’s a positive step towards making all commercial vehicles safer and more efficient. Goodyear has offered TPMS solutions to its customers for over a decade, and has been an important player in the industry when it comes to providing fleet mobility solutions. Some of the transportation companies across Europe were able to reduce tire-related breakdowns by up to 90% with the support of Goodyear’s TPMS solution[2].

Goodyear’s TPMS solution already goes beyond the new legislation’s requirements. It uses advanced algorithms to predict some issues before they arise, which enhances fuel efficiency, boosts safety and extends tire life through cutting-edge data collection methods. While the legislation requires TPMS to alert the driver to a pressure issue, Goodyear TPMS can also alert the back office who can then assist the driver in taking the right actions. Goodyear has collaborated with existing partners to ensure seamless integration and compliance with the upcoming regulations.
