Go Further This Summer: Goodyear Blimp coming to London

  • Goodyear Blimp to fly over London and Kent between 26 - 30 June
  • Blimp to provide aerial coverage for BTCC Brands Hatch

After last year's return to European skies, the Goodyear Blimp is visiting many more cities and events in 2021, including London. The airship will visit both the skies over the UK capital as well as providing motorsport fans with aerial coverage of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) round at Brands Hatch, .

On 26-27 June, the legendary Goodyear Blimp will fly over the BTCC weekend at Brands Hatch. Britain’s highest profile and longest established motorsport championship will feature a packed grid of the nation’s top racers battling on the famous former Grand Prix venue in Kent. Goodyear, the most successful tyre brand in Formula 1 history, was appointed as BTCC official tyre partner in 2020. On 29-30 June, the Goodyear Blimp will fly over London providing residents with a rare glimpse of one of the world’s most famous aircraft. On the way to London and Brands Hatch, it will fly over Kent towns including Dover, Maidstone and Dartford.

On the way to the UK, the Blimp will fly over a number of towns and cities in Germany, Belgium and France, including Bonn, Aachen, Waterloo, Kortrijk and Calais, where the airship will be based for the following days. This northern European flight will take place on 24 June.

The Blimp operating in Europe is a Goodyear-branded Zeppelin NT semi-rigid airship. This model is the largest of its kind in the world today. Seen in the skies since the 1910s, the tyre manufacturer’s brand ambassador not only provides once-in-a-lifetime experiences but is also used for the coverage of major events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Malachy Tuohy, Head of Communications, Consumer Europe, commented “We’re thrilled to bring the Goodyear Blimp back to the skies over the UK. This iconic airship that many people love will allow them to see the BTCC race from a different perspective and also bring fans closer to the Goodyear brand.”
