Goodyear Racing Notes - BTCC Brands Hatch GP

Download

This weekend, Goodyear returns for its second visit of the season to Brands Hatch for the final three rounds of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. During the last event at Silverstone, Ash Sutton secured a record-breaking fifth title, but the rest of the standings are all still yet to be determined, with Goodyear Racing Eagle tyres set to play a key role in keeping the racing exciting.

Teams will be permitted an open choice of tyres during official qualifying at Brands Hatch, allowing them more freedom to define their tyre strategies and gain the best position heading into Sunday’s races. The standard tyre allocation is the Goodyear Racing Eagle Medium compound, with the Goodyear Racing Eagle Soft compound serving as the option tyre.

As with the previous two events, teams will also have the option to deploy up to three sets of carryover tyres that have been retained from any of the previous rounds. In the event of wet weather, teams also have unrestricted access to the Goodyear Racing Eagle Wet compound tyres, designed to disperse surface water for better grip in rainy conditions.

The final rounds will be hosted on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch, which boasts 11 dramatic turns and more than 120 feet of elevation change. Although teams have already tackled the technical challenges of the Indy circuit in May, the extended Grand Prix circuit places massive high-speed lateral demands on tyres across its undulating layout.

“Our BTCC Champion has already been determined, but thanks to the Goodyear Racing Eagle tyre allocations and undulating layout of the GP layout, we’re still excited for racing on one of the country’s most popular tracks,” explains Michael Butler, Goodyear’s BTCC event leader. “All season, teams have been carefully plotting their carryover strategy with these final rounds in mind. It is now time to see whether their efforts will pay off. Teams also have more freedom of choice this weekend, with fewer limitations on tyre choice in official qualifying. This, combined with the fact that drivers will be holding absolutely nothing back this weekend, should make for a thrilling end to the season.”

Goodyear Racing Eagle tyres are also in action this weekend in the NASCAR races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and in the European Le Mans Series season finale 4 Hours of Portimao.
