Dunlop prêt à accompagner 39 motos de l'EWC aux 24H du Mans moto ce week end

Aux 24Heures moto, Dunlop équipe 39 motos sur les 54 engagées dont 33 motos en Superstock, et apporte 3 400 pneumatiques sur le circuit.

A l’occasion des 24h du Mans, les 15 et 16 avril 2023, Dunlop équipera 5 équipes en Formula EWC dont les motos BMW Motorad n° 37, Yamaha KM99 n°99, Yamaha Maco n°14, Team Bimtrazer Fly  N°21, Mana au compétition / Ligue contre le cancer N° 53, les 33 motos de la catégorie Superstock, et la n°15 Aprilia Le Mans 2 Roues de la catégorie « Expérimental ».

En Formula EWC, les équipes changent les pneumatiques avant et arrière à chaque relais.

Les motos en Superstock changent les pneumatiques tous les 2 relais pour l’arrière et tous les 4 relais pour l’avant. Ils portent une pastille rouge.

Face aux avancées technologiques des motos, Dunlop développe en permanence de nouvelles technologies pour l'ensemble de la gamme de pneumatiques moto compétition produite en majorité dans son usine de Montluçon (Allier). Chaque année, les motos augmentent leur niveau d’exigence des pneumatiques avec des vitesses de plus en plus élevées, comme sur le circuit du Castellet avec une vitesse de pointe en augmentation de 15km/h. La philosophie de Dunlop réside dans l’amélioration continue pour chaque championnat avec lequel la marque s’investit.

En Formula EWC, les 5 teams équipés par Dunlop aux 24Heures du Mans 2023, bénéficieront des pneumatiques slick pour le sec : KR109 en 125/80R17 avec 2 mélanges, MS3 (medium) et MS4 (Hard) pour l’avant, et des KR 108 en 200/70R17, avec 4 mélanges différents MS0 (Supersoft) MS1 (Soft), MS 2 (Medium) et MS3 (hard) pour l'arrière.

Pour la pluie, le KR111 en 125/80R17 pour l’avant et le KR 393 en 195/656R17 et pour l’intermédiaire le KR 398i en 200/55R17 pour l'arrière

En Superstock, les 33 teams bénéficieront des pneumatiques Dunlop, pour le sec, le KR 109 en 125/80R17, avec deux mélanges MS3 (Medium) et le MS4 (Hard) pour l’avant et le KR 108 en 200/70R17, avec deux mélanges MS2 (Medium) et MS 3 (Hard) pour l’arrière.

Dunlop is once again the tyre of choice for the majority of FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) teams as the 2023 season gets underway with the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans this weekend.

In total, Dunlop will supply tyres to 39 of the 54 bikes racing at Le Mans, the first of the four-round EWC season. In the top Formula EWC class, one of the few classes in international motorsport that still features open tyre competition, Dunlop is the choice of leading teams such as long-term partner BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. Their riders Markus Reiterberger, Ilya Mykhalchyk and Jeremy Guarnoni were second fastest in the recent pre-event test at Le Mans, showing a strong statement of intent for the season ahead. 

A new team this season is KM99, a Belgian squad racing a Yamaha YZF-R1 for outright Formula EWC honours. Their riders Florian Marino, Lucas Mahias and Bastien Mackels are also expected to perform well following a strong performance in the pre-event test. 

Close racing in Superstock

Last season was the first with Dunlop as the exclusive tyre supplier to the Superstock category, which features bikes that are very closely related to those available to buy in the showroom. At Le Mans, no fewer than 34 bikes representing five manufacturers (BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha) will race for the Superstock honours. Teams to watch include the No. 9 Tecmas MRP BMW, which was fastest in the recent test, and the reigning champions No. 18 Sapeurs Pompiers Yamaha, but this highly competitive class could produce any number of surprises.

All Superstock teams will race with the same range of Dunlop KR109 front and KR108 rear tyres. This family of Dunlop KR tyres won two EWC rounds last year, including the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps, where the overall victory was claimed by the No. 37 BMW team. In mixed weather conditions, they raced on the same range of slick, intermediate and wet tyres that are available to every Dunlop team on the grid. Both classes have access to similar specifications of tyres, which are also available for sale for track day and amateur usage.
