Dunlop continues motocross success with MX2 World Championship one-two

Dunlop has claimed a landmark 1-2 finish in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, with Triumph Racing riders Guillem Farres and Camden McLellan finishing first and second in the championship standings after the season finale in Darwin, Australia.

The Triumph Racing pair, equipped with Dunlop Geomax tires, has dominated the championship throughout a highly competitive season. Farres finished fourth overall at this weekend’s MXGP of Australia, enough to secure his first MX2 World Championship and finish 36 points ahead of runner-up McLellan. Farres becomes Dunlop’s second MX2 World Champion in three years, following Kay de Wolf’s title honours in 2024.

The result is a landmark achievement for Dunlop, with the two Triumph Racing riders combining for 11 of the possible 19 Grand Prix victories this season, underscoring Dunlop’s ability to inspire confidence across a wide range of terrains. Including other Dunlop riders Mathis Valin (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Liam Everts (Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing), Dunlop-equipped riders have won 25 of the 38 individual heats contested this season.

Farres, 23, quickly made his mark on the 2026 championship, winning the MXGP of France in May before hitting an impressive run of form with four consecutive overall Grand Prix victories from Portugal to the Czech Republic throughout June and July, followed by a further win in Türkiye two weeks ago. McLellan, 22, has contributed a further five overall victories to the Triumph Racing tally, including winning this weekend’s MXGP of Australia.

As in the top MXGP class and the WMX category, MX2 teams that choose Dunlop tires have access to a range of Dunlop Geomax motocross products. Dunlop riders finish runner-up in MXGP and WMX

Dunlop’s success extended across all three of the FIM Motocross World Championship categories, with Dunlop riders finishing second in both the MXGP and WMX championships, too.

Kawasaki Racing Team rider Romain Febvre secured second place in the top MXGP class on 805 points, adding another strong result to his landmark title victory with Dunlop last year.

His Kawasaki Racing Team teammate Pauls Jonass has also continued to choose Dunlop tires this season, as have Jan Pancar (TEM JP253 KTM Team), Jeremy Seewer (Venrooy KTM Racing) and Kevin Horgmo (Team Honda Motoblouz).

In the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, MX Fonta Racing GASGAS rider Kiara Fontanesi came tantalisingly close to securing an historic seventh WMX title on Sunday. The Dunlop rider finished in third place in Darwin, narrowly missing out on the championship after a season in which she took victory at the Great Britain round at Foxhills in July and three second-place finishes across the championship’s other four rounds.

Since 2012, Dunlop tires have taken 12 of the last 15 WMX victors to championship success. Fontanesi’s six titles follow four for Courtney Duncan and two for Lotte van Drunen.

In the United States, Dunlop Geomax tires continue to be the top choice for most riders in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross, having helped secure every title in both championships since 2010.
