CUPRA chooses Goodyear summer tires for electric Born

• Goodyear selected as OE fitment for CUPRA Born
• EfficientGrip Performance range chosen in sizes from 18 to 20 inches.
• Born is CUPRA’s first fully electric road car

CUPRA has selected a range of Goodyear summer tires as original equipment (OE) fitment for the CUPRA Born, its first fully electric road car. 

CUPRA has added to its range of hot hatches and crossovers in recent months, including its most powerful car ever, the Formentor VZ5, which has Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport as its OE fitment tire. Now, the brand’s first-ever fully electric road car will also be fitted with Goodyear tires.

The top specification of the CUPRA Born will be able to travel up to around 540km on a single charge with its 77 kWh battery, which delivers instant acceleration from 0-50 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

CUPRA has selected Goodyear for summer tire fitments on the Born. The Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance will be available in sizes 215/55R18, 215/50R19 and 215/45R20. 

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance is designed to give drivers high mileage and range, while maintaining great braking performance in both wet and dry conditions. This is achieved through the high elasticity and flexibility of the tread to reduce wear, and a lower stiffness in the compound to facilitate the bending of the blocks, thus helping to evacuate water in the wet. Larger tread blocks increase cornering stiffness to provide drivers with greater stability in dry emergency manoeuvres.

Goodyear and CUPRA’s electrified partnership extends onto the racetrack, too. As official tire supplier to PURE ETCR, the world’s first multi-brand all-electric touring car championship, Goodyear supplies cars to all of the 670 hp electric race cars competing in this innovative series. CUPRA has been involved in the ETCR (Electric Touring Car Racing) platform since its launch, and the CUPRA e-Racer won the opening season with the driver Mattias Ekström.
