Motorrad Magazin names Dunlop Trailmax Meridian the ‘asphalt emperor’

Austrian publication Motorrad Magazin has praised Dunlop Trailmax Meridian’s on-road performance in a recent test of seven different tyres for trail bikes, highlighting its combination of grip and comfort.
As part of the ‘Lust auf Schotter?’ (‘lust for gravel?’) feature in the 5/2021 issue1, Motorrad Magazin tested adventure tyres from seven different manufacturers2 on a KTM 890 Adventure. The test involved three different environments - asphalt, ‘normal offroad’, and ‘extreme offroad’, to replicate the wide range of application a rider expects from tyres like the Dunlop Trailmax Meridian.
Launched last year, Trailmax Meridian is Dunlop’s innovative new offering in the Adventure and Trail segment, featuring all-new compounds and Multi-Tread technology. It is designed for modern high-performance adventure bikes like the KTM 890 Adventure used in the Motorrad Magazin test.
The magazine’s testers found Trailmax Meridian to outperform its competitors in the five tested categories for on-road performance: grip on an incline, handling, straight-line stability, cornering stability and damping. It was the only tyre to score at least 8/10 in all of these categories, tested by Luca Grünwald.
According to the test report, “The Dunlop is our clear asphalt emperor in our test. Grip, self-damping and stability are at the level of a road tyre and on gravel the Meridian is among the other asphalt-orientated tyres… Those who primarily ride on the road have plenty of grip and still the highest comfort with Trailmax Meridian.”
