Magnussen duo part of all-Danish team for 24 Hours of Le Mans with Goodyear

  • Jan and Kevin Magnussen to race at Le Mans with Goodyear
  • Father-and-son Formula 1 duo part of all-Danish team
  • Race to take place on 21-22 August

An all-Danish driver lineup featuring ex-Formula 1 drivers and father-and-son duo Jan and Kevin Magnussen will compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this August, racing on Goodyear tyres.

Jan and Kevin will be joined by Anders Fjordbach to make an entirely Danish driver trio at Danish team High Class Racing. The team will race an Oreca 07 Gibson in the LMP2 class, which features purpose-built prototype race cars producing around 536 hp from a 4.2 litre V8 engine.

Last year, Goodyear made its long-awaited return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s most famous endurance race. On that weekend last September, two Goodyear cars finished in the top three positions amid competition with a rival brand. Following results like this in 2019 and 2020, Goodyear was awarded the exclusive supply of the LMP2 category for the 2021 season onwards.

Jan Magnussen and Anders Fjordbach will race with Goodyear throughout the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, which begins next weekend (1 May) at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The addition of Kevin Magnussen to the lineup for Le Mans realises the father-and-son duo’s dream of racing together in the prestigious race.

Jan Magnussen raced in Formula 1 during the mid-late 1990s, and made his Formula 1 debut in 1995 with Goodyear tyres. His son Kevin raced in Formula 1 between 2014 and 2020. This year’s edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be Kevin’s first, while Jan returns for the 23rd consecutive year.
