Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 wins Auto Bild all-season test

Goodyear has been named the winner of German magazine Auto Bild’s all-season tire test for the second consecutive year, placing ahead of more than 30 other brands in a comprehensive examination of dry, wet, snow and mileage performance.

Included in the 30 September edition (issue 39-2021) of Auto Bild, the test measured performance of the latest iteration of Goodyear’s award-winning Vector 4Seasons tire on a BMW 3 Series, with tire size 225/50R17. Auto Bild’s testers measured 32 tires, with 16 undergoing a thorough examination, including the latest generation of competitor tires1.

The test measured 16 different characteristics, including performance in dry, wet and snow conditions, as well as mileage, cost and rolling resistance. The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 was the only tire measured to score a ‘green’ rating in all 16 categories, leading to an overall summary that it provides “convincing performance in all weather conditions, dynamic handling, short wet braking distances, very good aquaplaning reserves, high mileage, [and a] good price-performance ratio”. The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 scored higher in Auto Bild’s mileage test than any other tire in the top five overall.

This is the second time that the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 has won Auto Bild’s prestigious all-season tire test, having placed on top in the 2020 edition (issue 39-2020) a year ago, when the publication also awarded Goodyear its prestigious all-season tire manufacturer of the year title (issue 41-2020).

Laurent Colantonio, Regional Technology Director EMEA, Goodyear: “Consumers who choose all-season tires demand a tire that combines excellent braking and grip in changeable weather conditions, from dry summer roads to wet and wintry conditions, while also maintaining safety and comfort. Combining all of these requirements, and also delivering value to the driver through excellent mileage, is no easy task, and that’s why we’re proud to have more all-season test wins than any other brand2. The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is the latest evolution of our long-running Vector family, which has led the way in the development of all-season tire technology since we invented the all- season tire 35 years ago.”

The latest Gen-3 version of the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons gives drivers better grip on snow versus its predecessor 3 thanks to its large amount of sipes at the centre of the tread, which are arranged to open and trap snow inside them, ensuring better grip. Strong crown and shoulder blocks, meanwhile, give improved dry handling and shorter dry braking distances4. For optimal wet safety, deep and wide grooves are helping water dispersion, improving aquaplaning resistance.
