Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ SUV declared ‘exemplary’ in major tire test

Goodyear has been rated with a top score in German magazine the Auto Bild allrad winter tire test, securing an ‘exemplary’ rating in a test of ten brands.

Published in the 7 October edition (issue 11-2021) of Auto Bild allrad, the test compared the brands in 14 different tests ranging from traction to cornering grip and braking distances, in snow, wet and in dry conditions. The testing used the 235/55R18 size on a Volkswagen Tiguan(1).

Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ SUV was the top-performing tire in wet handling. This wet weather performance, combined with an accomplished performance in snow, proved the versatility of the latest Goodyear.

Auto Bild allrad praised the capabilities of the UltraGrip Performance+ SUV. “It is a new winter tire with the best driving characteristics on snowy and wet slopes, precise turn-in behaviour, dynamic wet handling and short wet braking distances.”

Laurent Colantonio, Regional Technology Director EMEA, Goodyear: “The UltraGrip Performance+ SUV takes our innovative package of winter technologies and tailors them for the needs of the SUV market. We are delighted that Auto Bild allrad has recognised the performance, rating it as exemplary.”

With the launch of UltraGrip Performance+ SUV, Goodyear achieved a gain of 13% more mileage and improved performance in all winter conditions(2). The tire’s Mileage Plus Technology features high tread elasticity. This results in improved wear resistance, improving durability and mileage.

Goodyear’s Winter Grip Technology introduces a new compound. This enhances rubber elasticity at low temperatures giving increased grip in winter conditions. This, combined with Traction Protect Technology, helps shorten braking distances thanks to an advanced resin.
