Goodyear to enter German motorsport in 2020

- Goodyear focuses on GT and touring car racing in Germany

- Tyre brand equips Nordschleife teams in VLN and 24h race

- Other popular championships including DMV GTC and DMV NES 500 also to race on Goodyear

Hanau, November 2019 - Goodyear is entering German motorsport in 2020. In the coming season, the tyre brand will build on a long and successful racing history. At the Nürburgring-Nordschleife Goodyear will equip numerous teams in the VLN Endurance Championship and the 24h Race. The racing tyres of the traditional brand will also be used in the two racing series DMV GT and Touring Car Cup (DMV GTC) as well as the DMV National Endurance Series 500 (DMV NES 500).

The decision is intended to strengthen the Goodyear brand in the areas of motorsport and ultra-ultra-high performance (UUHP). In 2019, Goodyear returned to this segment with the introduction of the Eagle F1 SuperSport road tires and celebrating a successful comeback in European and international sports car racing. Following Goodyear's entry into the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), its motorsport involvement was further strengthened with announcements covering partnerships with European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in the UK.

"When Goodyear enters Germany, it will concentrate on GT and touring car racing," says Alexander Kühn, Motorsport Product Manager EMEA. "We look forward to an exciting competition between the tyre manufacturers on the legendary Nordschleife and the partnership with the racing series and motorsport teams. Goodyear has already successfully developed a new range of tyres for the Le Mans prototypes in the innovation centres in Hanau and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, and next year we will be expanding our range of tyres for German and European motorsport with new products".

In the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring and in the 24h race on the Nürburgring, Goodyear accompanies the operations of numerous Nordschleife teams. At the same time, the participants of the BMW M240i Racing Cup, as well as the starters of the TCR class, will compete in the "Green Hell" exclusively on Goodyear. Furthermore, the participants of the two racing series DMV GTC and DMV NES 500 with their touring cars and GT vehicles will be exclusively equipped with Goodyear racing tyres.

Goodyear has a proud history in motorsport. In addition to the 14 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Goodyear tires have won 368 Formula 1 Grand Prix races - an unbeaten record.
