Goodyear Launches Online Tire Sales in Europe with Germany as Pilot Market

  • Goodyear e-commerce solution addresses quality and service-oriented consumers and builds on close cooperation with tire retailers

  • The innovative platform offers a seamless online shopping experience while enabling incremental growth for local retail partners

Goodyear is simplifying the tire-buying process by offering German consumers the option to purchase tires and schedule installation on its website, www.goodyear.de/shop.

The program, announced today in Hanau, has been designed with the convenience-driven consumer in mind, offering a number of unique features that seek to simplify the tire purchasing process by providing a seamless transaction from purchase to installation.

“This program responds to the needs of consumers who prefer the convenience of online shopping” said Frédéric Schilling, Director E-Commerce Channel, Consumer Europe at Goodyear.

“Goodyear is now offering German drivers a seamless online shopping experience, the superior performance of Goodyear tires and the confidence of having them installed by a trusted local retailer,” Jürgen Titz, Managing Director Consumer EU Central & Car Dealer Channel added.

By visiting www.goodyear.de/shop, German drivers can become the first in Europe to purchase Goodyear tires online direct from Goodyear from any computer or mobile device. Available Goodyear tire options are provided, along with clear information to support the tire selection process right through to the end, guiding consumers to the specific tire that fits their needs.

Using an online agenda that is integrated with Goodyear’s premium installer network, which currently covers over half of German households within a 30-minute drive, the consumer can then schedule an appointment for tire installation at a retailer of their choice online. This is particularly important in a seasonal market like Germany, where mounting slots are in high demand at peak times.

All tire and installation costs are paid online and upfront, allowing consumers to simply show up for the appointment at their scheduled installation time.

To fulfil these consumers’ demands, Goodyear is closely cooperating with selected tire retailers and has built a dedicated partner network for its e-commerce solution. This enables Goodyear to offer consumers a seamless online shopping experience while leveraging business to local retailers.

Goodyear launched its e-commerce platform in the USA in 2015 and has adapted the model to the requirements of the European market for this pilot in Germany. It will gradually be rolled out across the rest of the region at a later stage.
