Dunlop most successful tire brand at Motocross of Nations

Dunlop riders Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle win on home soil for Team France

Dunlop added to its best ever FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) season and clean sweep of Supercross with a highly successful Motocross of Nations (MXoN) on Sunday, where it was the most successful tire brand with the highest number of race wins and podium finishes.

Dunlop tires were the choice of Romain Febvre and Tom Vialle who made up two-thirds of Team France, which won the event on home soil at Ernée in the north west of the country. Kawasaki’s Febvre won his first race, while Vialle placed runner-up in his second contest. These results went a long way to securing France’s first MXoN victory since its dominance of the annual event in 2014-2018.

Dunlop riders from other nations finished on the podium throughout the day, too. Australia’s Jett Lawrence won the third and final race ahead of holeshot winner Ken Roczen (Germany), who had also finished third in the opening race. In all, five of the nine race podium positions were taken by Dunlop riders, including two of the three race wins, making Dunlop the most successful tire manufacturer of the day.

Australia placed second in the final standings with its all-Dunlop team of Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence and Dean Ferris, who have all enjoyed success earlier this year, with championship titles between them in Australia and the United States.

In the standings by class, the top three MX2 riders - Vialle, Hunter Lawrence and Kay de Wolf - were all on Dunlop, while Roczen’s results were enough to place him as the top MXGP rider, ahead of Jett Lawrence and Febvre in third and fourth.

Success at Sunday’s MXoN was achieved through the traction and control delivered by Dunlop Geomax MX34, the latest tire in Dunlop’s range for soft-mid motocross surfaces. Over the course of the season, Geomax MX34 and the MX14 sand tire took Febvre to six Grand Prix victories, and other riders, such as de Wolf and Lucas Coenen, to MX2 wins.

Eddy Seel, MXGP Event Leader, Dunlop: “Congratulations to Team France for winning this prestigious event in front of tens of thousands of their home fans. We’re delighted with the performance of our Geomax MX34 tires all day, gripping more riders to podium finishes than any other tire manufacturer. We would also like to congratulate Team Australia for their best ever MXoN finish; a superb way to finish those riders’ seasons.”
