Cooper asserts strong 4x4 market position with advanced product range

Cooper Tires, one of the leading brands in the extreme 4x4 tire market, delivers a full range of products with excellent performance and durability to suit a wide variety of off-road vehicles. 

The Cooper range of Professional Off Road (POR) tires is designed and constructed specifically for use in challenging conditions. The testing process puts tires through the harshest terrains to produce a strong and versatile product. 

Cooper understands the unique challenges of building a tire for the 4x4 off-road market with over a century of experience in the industry. A true off-road vehicle must work on a wider variety of surfaces and be robust enough to ensure excellent reliability. This is equally true of the tires fitted, with a number of Cooper innovations such as Even Wear Arc Technology™ and Whisper Grooves™ to give excellent longevity and cabin comfort.    

The 4x4 range covers every season

Cooper’s line-up of 4x4 tires contains a variety of summer and all-season fitments covering 15” to 22”. The Discoverer range caters to the needs of all 4x4 drivers, from all-terrain (AT) tires with a 60:40 road:off-road focus, to POR tires with Armor-Tek3® technology with a majority off-road focus.

Armor-Tek3®: Built to last

Cooper’s range of POR tires features the unique Armor-Tek3® construction for added durability, with a cut and chip-resistant tread compound and rugged block patterns to aid the discharge of debris. This results in a tire that can tackle mud with enhanced traction and achieve excellent grip on difficult surfaces.

Armor-Tek3® takes a traditional two-ply radial structure and adds a third layer at an 8° angle. This provides significantly greater strength and tear resistance compared to a traditional two-ply construction. In addition, Rugged Traction Shoulders provide increased off-road traction for boulder crawling and mud handling as well as additional resistance to abrasion and punctures.

Key partnerships

Cooper Tires has partnerships in the United Kingdom with Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team in Yorkshire. Each provides first-response assistance, and Cooper supplies tires to these organisations to fit vehicles like Volvo XC90, BMW X5 or Land Rover Discovery 5 to provide the grip, versatility and durability needed.
