For the 2026 season, Goodyear will introduce a new truck racing tire incorporating 60% sustainable materials¹, up from 55% in the previous season. This reflects Goodyear’s ongoing commitment with the FIA to improve tire sustainability year after year in top‑level truck racing. Based on Goodyear’s internal sustainability classification framework, a tire incorporating 60% or more sustainable materials is assigned a two-leaf rating (with one leaf assigned to tires below this threshold).

In addition to this technical development, Goodyear will introduce the Wingfoot Award in the Goodyear FIA ETRC. One Wingfoot Award will be presented at each race event during the 2026 season. The award will recognize a driver selected by fans. The Wingfoot Award is designed to further engage fans throughout the season while highlighting performances and moments that reflect the values of the championship.

Sustainability efforts within the Goodyear FIA ETRC also include the retreading of race‑used tires, which are processed in Goodyear factories in Europe and reintroduced into commercial service, supporting a circular use of resources from the racetrack to the road.

The Goodyear FIA ETRC 2026 season gets underway at Misano, Italy, on May 30–31.

Goodyear will supply all teams with race tires, ensuring a level playing field across the grid while meeting the highest standards of safety and performance.

The partnership continues a long-standing relationship between Goodyear and ETRA Promotion GmbH. Goodyear has been the exclusive tire supplier to the Goodyear FIA ETRC (European Truck Racing Championship) for more than 20 years and has played a key role in developing modern truck racing tires.

In 2025, Goodyear introduced a new truck racing tire made from 55% sustainable materials — a significant step towards more sustainable motorsport. Goodyear is also advancing circular-economy initiatives, with used racing tires retreaded in its factory in Germany and repurposed for commercial transport applications, helping to reduce waste and maximize resource efficiency.

The TGP Championship will make its debut in May 2026, bringing truck racing to Germany’s major circuits with events at the Hockenheimring, Lausitzring and Nürburgring.

Goodyear URBANMAX features a full silica tread compound that delivers up to 40% higher mileage than its predecessor[1] while delivering low rolling resistance (label “B”) and strong wet traction (label “B”), both achieved by using a compound with high silica content. With a four-rib tread design, additional sipes, and deep grooves with stiffeners, the tire provides consistent handling, even wear, and reliable traction in various surface conditions.

The reinforced sidewall with wear indicators enhances durability, offering long-lasting protection against aggressive curbstones—a key advantage for urban fleets. Additionally, Goodyear URBANMAX is regroovable and retreadable, helping to further extend tire life and reduce total cost of ownership for urban fleets thanks to Goodyear Retreading solution.

The introduction of Goodyear’s 55% sustainable-material truck racing tires aligns with the Goodyear FIA ETRC’s ongoing sustainability journey. The championship has been running on 100% renewable HVO biofuel since 2021 and holds the FIA’s three-star environmental accreditation[2]— the highest level in the framework. Goodyear has also earned this top-tier certification[3], extending beyond the FIA ETRC to its wider motorsport programs, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and European Le Mans Series. Additionally, Goodyear remains committed to retreading truck racing tires, repurposing them for commercial transport applications to minimize waste and enhance resource efficiency.

Introduced last season, Goodyear’s latest truck racing tire[4] features an advanced compound designed to enhance grip, particularly in wet conditions. In the Goodyear FIA ETRC, regulations require a single tire to perform consistently across a wide range of circuits and weather conditions — including dry, wet, cold, and hot surfaces. Additionally, the latest design improves durability[5], reducing the total number of tires used throughout the championship. This helps teams maintain optimal performance while improving overall efficiency in tire usage.

Goodyear applies the ISCC  PLUS sustainability certification system and mass-balance approach to support transparency and accountability in tracking the sustainable materials throughout the supply chain.

Dakar 2025: new challenges await

The 2025 Dakar Rally, running from January 3 to January 17, will cover nearly 8,000 kilometers, including over 5,000 kilometers of competitive stages, starting in Bisha and finishing in Shubaytah. This edition ramps up the difficulty, featuring an early 48-hour chrono stage that flows into the marathon stage, setting a challenging pace from the outset. In the second week, competitors will tackle the demanding dunes of the Empty Quarter, with over 45% of the course on separate tracks for different vehicle classes, enhancing safety while complicating navigation.

Sustainability remains a priority

The 2024 survey confirms that sustainability remains firmly on the agenda for transport fleets across Europe. Overall, 63% of fleets recognize sustainability as important, a sentiment that grows to 93% among mega fleets (over 500 vehicles). Of these larger fleets, nearly 60% even rate sustainability as “very important,” underscoring a trend in which reputation and corporate values drive sustainability efforts.

In contrast, smaller fleets (1-100 vehicles) view sustainability through a different lens. For them, sustainability is primarily seen as a means to reduce operating costs, with 45% emphasizing cost savings over reputation. This divergence highlights the varying motivations behind sustainability initiatives, depending on fleet size.

Beyond fuel efficiency to comprehensive solutions

Reducing fuel consumption remains a core component of sustainability strategies. 52% of fleets continue to prioritize fuel-efficient tires, and 58% are investing in newer vehicles to improve environmental performance. Additionally, more fleets are integrating driver training (44%) and telematics solutions (43%) into their sustainability mix, showing a growing emphasis on operational efficiency beyond just hardware.

Price and complexity remain barriers

While sustainability is a key goal, obstacles remain. Price continues to be the biggest challenge, with 63% of fleets citing the high cost of sustainable solutions as a barrier. Moreover, 43% of respondents view solution complexity as another significant hurdle. These challenges affect fleets of all sizes, reinforcing the need for affordable, easy-to-implement solutions that can drive real change.

Sustainability doesn’t mean compromising on performance

A new question added to the 2024 survey reveals that more than 70% of fleets believe sustainability comes at the cost of performance. This insight sheds light on a critical perception in the transport industry, one that Goodyear is actively addressing through its latest innovations.

As industry regulations further tighten emission standards, the need for introducing new products and solutions has never been greater.

Depending on the different sizes, tires from the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA ranges are made with up to 55% sustainable materials[1], including ingredients like Rice Husk Ash (RHA)-based silica.

Advanced compounds for mileage and fuel efficiency

Complementing the tread improvements, the new  carcass compounds featuring silica  contribute to lower heat generation within the carcass, helping to reduce rolling resistance and increasing long-term durability. In EQMAX T ULTRA, designed for trailers, new tread design with additional sipes was introduced to enhance grip and braking on all weather conditions.

Designed for the future: Electric Drive Ready and RFID technology

The EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tires are designed to be Electric Drive Ready. This means they are suitable for a variety of drivetrains, including diesel, gas, electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles, offering a one-product solution for all vehicle types. Helps fleets comply with EU regulations for TPMS

The launch of Goodyear TPMS Connect comes at the right time. The system complies with the EU's latest regulations for TPMS, which require all new motor vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and vans, to be equipped with TPMS that accurately measures and transmits tire pressure information to the driver.

Many fleets are equipped with standard TPMS from original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and these systems can limit the visibility of notifications so that only drivers see them. This can potentially complicate the work for fleet coordinators and limit their ability to quickly address tire issues, potentially leading to costly downtime and maintenance. The Goodyear CheckPoint is a yard-based drive-over tire inspection system that quickly reads tire conditions and vehicle parameters. Utilizing a high-tech ground-based plate equipped with specialized sensors and cameras, the system automatically measures and analyzes tire tread depth and tire pressure in seconds. The embedded design, combined with vehicle RFID or license plate recognition technology, enables dynamic and rapid inspections of large volumes of vehicles. Thanks to that Goodyear CheckPoint leverages innovative features for automated drive-over measurement and instant data transfer to the Goodyear cloud and display terminal as well as Goodyear applications supporting fleet management.

Easier maintenance and servicing

The updated Goodyear CheckPoint system includes a new modular tread depth sensor design, allowing for easier maintenance and servicing of each laser and camera unit through a plug-and-play setup. This design brings improved durability compared to its previous version being more resistant to the weather, mitigates the impact of heavy vehicle loads and vibrations resulting in more accurate measurements and also helps optimize operational efficiency and lower costs for customers due to less servicing needs. With each fully sealed module enhancing weather resistance, the system's robustness further helps ensure fewer breakdowns, providing a reliable solution that minimizes downtime and maintenance expenses throughout the contract period.

Goodyear has also re-engineered its tread depth technology with advanced lasers and cameras to provide enhanced tread depth recognition. The upgraded system captures much more images with improved illumination, making it more precise and allowing for better identification of the tire's actual condition, even in complex tread designs. This enhancement ensures fleet managers receive highly accurate and detailed tire condition data, supporting more informed decisions as well as  overall fleet safety and efficiency.

Comprehensive report to provide benchmark and best practices for fleet operators

Like each year, the full report of the 2024 Sustainable Reality Survey will be available for download later this year. This comprehensive report provides detailed analysis of the industry's sustainability trends, offering fleet operators a benchmark to measure their own practices against industry standards. Additionally, it serves as a resource for identifying best practices, understanding emerging challenges, and discovering innovative solutions that can enhance both sustainability and operational efficiency.

The 2023 Sustainable Reality Survey revealed several key trends in the European transportation industry’s approach to sustainability. A significant majority of the fleets which participated in the survey, identified sustainability as either 'important' or 'very important,' with one-third of fleets considering it a core corporate value. The survey highlighted that sustainable measures are increasingly seen as cost-saving strategies, with 39% of fleets reporting operational cost reductions through sustainable practices. Larger fleets, especially those with over 500 vehicles, have confirmed their leadership in defining and implementing sustainability goals, with 75% having already taken action. Additionally, fuel-efficient tires emerged as a popular component in sustainability strategies, with 56% of fleets using them to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. These findings underscore the growing commitment within the industry to integrate sustainable practices while maintaining operational efficiency.

As part of the Sustainable Reality Survey 2024, Goodyear will continue planting new trees for every survey response. Since 2021, Goodyear has already supported the planting of over 7,000 trees as part of reforestation programs led by Tree-Nation.

Launched in 1985, 2024 marks 40 years of this prime competition. Today, the championship features vehicles from leading manufacturers and this will be the ninth season where Goodyear is the official partner and exclusive tire supplier.

New Goodyear Truck Racing Tire

This season, Goodyear will bring an all-new tire compound to the championship, developed to deliver more grip, especially in wet conditions, thereby helping to elevate the safety standards of truck racing. In Goodyear FIA ETRC, the regulations mandate the use of a single tire for a wide range of conditions across various circuits: from dry tracks to wet, cold, and hot surfaces across different circuits. It can pose a challenge to ensure optimal performance throughout the series.

The introduction of the new Goodyear Truck Racing Tire broadens the performance spectrum, offering enhanced wet grip and durability. This advancement not only extends tire lifespan and performance but also supports the ETRC's sustainability goals by reducing the overall tire usage throughout the season.

The tire has been developed at Goodyear’s Innovation Center in Luxembourg, and tested at the Goodyear Proving Grounds, as well as Nürburgring, Most and Slovakia Ring circuits. Engineers have particularly focused on contact patch optimisation to encourage even wear and optimise performance across the lifespan of the tire.

The seven-event championship will visit Italy, Slovakia, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, France and Spain on the way to crowning a champion. All eyes will be on Norbert Kiss, the five-time champion, who has dominated the last three seasons.

Goodyear Drive Results Tour to feature in the paddock

Goodyear’s presence will be felt in the paddocks and fan zones, with its Drive Results Tour 2024 confirmed at every round of the championship. Industry stakeholders present on the races will have a chance to learn how Goodyear Total Mobility offering can help fleets improve fuel efficiency, reduce operating costs, and mitigate unexpected breakdown risks.

In the 2024 Goodyear FIA ETRC season, Goodyear will continue its efforts regarding retreading. After the races, the newly used truck racing tires will undergo a retreading process, giving them a renewed purpose for transportation companies. This initiative helps reduce the overall waste generated by the Goodyear FIA ETRC, in line with its sustainability pledge. By prolonging the lifespan of these tires through retreading, Goodyear and the ETRC emphasize their commitment to reducing environmental footprint while optimizing performance on the track and in regular commercial operations.

From 7^th July, all new commercial vehicles must be equipped with a working TPMS on all tires, including trailers, at the point of registration.[1] The most significant element of the new legislation is that any detected tire pressure change greater than 20% must now be displayed inside the vehicle. This will warn drivers of a potential tire issue before the tire becomes dangerous or at risk of damage. With the new legislation quickly approaching, Goodyear supports the changes, saying it’s a positive step towards making all commercial vehicles safer and more efficient. Goodyear has offered TPMS solutions to its customers for over a decade, and has been an important player in the industry when it comes to providing fleet mobility solutions. Some of the transportation companies across Europe were able to reduce tire-related breakdowns by up to 90% with the support of Goodyear’s TPMS solution[2].

The 2024 Dakar Rally proved to be a formidable challenge, spanning from AlUla to Yanbu, covering 5,000 kilometers of diverse landscapes. Team De Rooy faced steep inclines, treacherous descents, and new sections, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of both the drivers and the vehicles.

While a podium finish remained out of reach this year, Team De Rooy maneuvered all three trucks through the rally and successfully completed all the stages of this challenging course.

The #600 Boss Machinery Team De Rooy FPT, led by Pilot Janus van Kasteren Jr., Navigator Marcel Snijders, and Mechanic Darek Rodewald, secured 4^th place. The team particularly stood out by winning the prologue stage and securing victories in three other stages.

Additionally, the #622 Becx Competition Team De Rooy FPT, piloted by Michiel Becx, with Navigator Edwin Kuijpers and Mechanic Wuf van Ginkel, took 5^th place in the final rankings.

The #618 Ladies Team De Rooy FPT, driven by Anja van Loon, alongside Navigator Floor Maten and Mechanic Marije van Ettekoven, made history as the first Dutch women's team in the Dakar Rally, securing 12^th position in the overall standings.

Goodyear OFFROAD tires once again provided traction and durability across challenging terrains. Dakar 2024 route: a thrilling journey awaits

From January 5 to January 19, 2024, the Dakar rally will kick off in AlUla, winding its way across the expansive landscapes of Saudi Arabia, culminating in Yanbu on the Red Sea coast. The 14-day event, encompassing 1 prologue and 12 stages, covers a formidable distance of 5,000 kilometers. Notably, 60% of the route comprises entirely new sections, promising a fresh and challenging experience for participants.

In the 2024 Dakar edition, Team De Rooy will field three trucks, each geared up for victory:

The Rallye du Maroc 2023 served as a proving ground for the upcoming Dakar 2024 for the Team De Rooy. With the support of Goodyear's tire technology and solutions the team delivered an excellent performance, covering a total distance of 2,240 kilometres over five stages. The journey began with the Prologue in Agadir and extended eastward to Zagora and Merzouga, demonstrating team’s capacity to navigate even some of the most demanding terrains with exceptional skill.

Promoting sustainability in commercial fleets

Goodyear's exhibition integrates its components with the recently unveiled findings of the 2023 edition of Sustainable Reality Survey. In this survey, over 1,600 European fleets provided insights into their perspectives on sustainability, their approach to implementing eco-friendly solutions within their fleets, and their concerns regarding regulatory challenges. They also highlighted the most popular actions they take to reduce their environmental footprint and support CO2 reductions across their fleets. It's worth noting that for the majority of these fleets (56%), the use of fuel-efficient tires is an important element in their sustainable fleet management. This trend is particularly pronounced among megafleets (those with over 500 vehicles), where 70% rely on fuel-efficient tires to help them meet their sustainability objectives.

Goodyear will reserve a special zone to highlight the benefits of the Goodyear Retreading solution and exhibit its 63% sustainable-material demonstration truck tire, initially unveiled in 2022 at the IAA Transportation event. These components serve as clear examples of the company's dedication to promoting sustainability in the context of commercial fleets.

Expert insights and panel discussions

During SOLUTRANS 2023, Goodyear invites attendees to participate in panel discussions to explore the challenges and solutions facing modern transport companies. These discussions will highlight the transformative impact of Goodyear Total Mobility offerings on competitiveness, efficiency, and sustainability. Each year, Goodyear sets out to examine sustainability trends in the commercial vehicle and haulage industry through its Sustainable Reality Survey. It looks at what fleets are currently doing to improve their environmental and operational footprint, as well as discussing barriers to progress.

In 2023, 68% of fleets surveyed claimed sustainability was important, compared to 71% in 2022, with less fleets having formalised sustainability goals in place (33%). Especially among large fleets (over 500 vehicles), this level is still very high, as in previous years (75%).

Fuel efficient tires continue to play a significant role in driving sustainability in commercial fleets

Tires remain one the most popular changeable component when it comes to maximising fleet efficiency. 56% of fleets reported that they already use fuel efficient tires. This was beaten only by renewal of vehicle parc (62%) as the industry continues its transition towards electric vehicles and more efficient powertrains.

An example of a tire that fits into this trend is Goodyear FUELMAX ENDURANCE which minimises rolling resistance without compromising performance, safety and durability. Equipping a fleet with Goodyear’s FUELMAX ENDURANCE range can result  up to 2% reduction in CO2, which equates to saving 40,000 litres of fuel per year for a 100-vehicle fleet.[1]

Goodyear Total Mobility: A solution to improve sustainability and the bottom line

Goodyear actively responds to the expectations and challenges indicated by European fleets. The survey found that fleet operators wanted assurance that investing in solutions would reap profitable benefits, with 46% expressing this as a priority, as well as solutions that are easy to implement and use. Goodyear Total Mobility offering is helping fleets to drive results and become more efficient, more competitive and more sustainable. This can be achieved by combining advanced fleet management solutions, mobile applications and fuel efficient tires.

In conjunction with the Sustainable Reality Survey, Goodyear is also proud to support reforestation programs across the world, and has pledged to plant more than 1,700 trees in 2023. In three editions of the study, Goodyear has already supported the planting of over 5,300 trees in partnership with Tree-Nation.

Since its inception in 2021, the Goodyear Sustainable Reality Survey has consistently delivered insights into the European road transport industry. The findings from the 2023 survey underscore a well-defined and continuous trajectory toward a more sustainable future for the industry, further amplifying the positive trends identified in 2021 and 2022 survey reports.

Transport companies prioritize eco-friendly practices and cost efficiency

The survey's initial focal point remains the assessment of sustainability's significance within transport companies. Encouragingly, the findings reflect a positive trend, consistent with previous years. Nearly three-quarters of surveyed fleets (68%) regard sustainability as either 'important' or 'very important.' Remarkably, one in three fleets regards sustainability as a core corporate value. Many fleets underscore their perception of sustainability measures as a pragmatic approach to cost reduction, emphasizing the ongoing need for environmental initiatives to align seamlessly with the day-to-day commercial demands of business operations. This underscores the pragmatic nature of sustainability in the modern business landscape, where ecological considerations coexist with the imperative of financial viability.

Sustainable cost reductions and fleet progress

In 2022 the number of fleets that see sustainable measures as a way to lower their operation costs rose from 32% to 41%. In 2023, this percentage remained relatively stable at 39%. 

Fleet size remains a crucial factor in sustainability efforts. Mega fleets, consisting of more than 500 vehicles, continue to lead the charge in defining and implementing sustainability goals, with 75% of these fleets having already initiated sustainability measures and 23% planning to do so in the coming years. However, the survey reveals that other fleet sizes are also embracing sustainability. Large fleets, operating between 251 and 500 vehicles, have shown substantial growth in their sustainability ambitions, with 66% having defined sustainability goals in 2023, up from 50% in the previous year.

A valuable resource for academics, industry analysts, and sustainability professionals

This year's report provides a comprehensive summary of key findings, offering access to insights behind each question asked. It also highlights how these insights have evolved from the previous year. As the industry collectively strives to encourage and promote sustainable operations and practices, Goodyear hopes that the survey's findings will serve as a source of inspiration and motivation.

Goodyear's Sustainable Reality Survey for 2023 reached a remarkable participation level, with over 1,600 fleets from across Europe taking part. This increase not only signifies a growing interest in sustainability but also contributes to the positive impact on the environment. For every survey response received, Goodyear through TreeNation, a non-profit organization dedicated to reforestation efforts, supports trees plantation. Over the three years of the survey's existence, over 4,000 trees have been planted.

The survey asked fleets to name what they currently have in place to hit their sustainability targets. 56% of fleets reported that they already use fuel efficient tires. The only solution more popular among fleets is updating the vehicle fleet (62%) as the industry continues its transition towards electric vehicles and more efficient powertrains.

Across Europe, 56% of fleets participating in the survey, use fuel efficient tires, with 42% reporting the use of retreaded tires. Fleets that use the Goodyear retreading solutions can cut overall tire expenditure by 10%¹ and extend tire life up to an additional 150%¹. While using existing resources as much as possible, Goodyear’s retreading process uses 56% less crude oil for manufacturing².

Widespread use of fuel efficient tires among megafleets

The survey found that 70% of megafleets use fuel efficient tires to help them achieve their sustainability targets. A megafleet is defined as having more than 500 vehicles in operation. That category also reported the highest use of retreaded tires.

To provide even more support for fleets and transport companies, in 2021 Goodyear introduced an advanced and versatile product line named FUELMAX ENDURANCE, designed for enhanced fuel efficiency. This collection of tires, intended for both steer and drive axles, presents an innovative solution tailored to transportation and logistics firms that operate across highways as well as secondary or state roads—often referred to as inter-regional applications.

This range is poised to assist numerous European fleets and truck manufacturers in diminishing their carbon footprint. It accomplishes this by harmonizing the renowned fuel efficiency associated with long-haul applications alongside the ruggedness, traction, and endurance necessary for driving on secondary and state roads. This product line stands as its most adaptable and fuel-efficient Goodyear truck tire offering to date.

Another example is Goodyear FUELMAX PERFORMANCE – Goodyear’s ultimate fuel-saving steer axle tire. It is designed for long-haul, highway use and helps bring down fuel costs and CO2 emissions. The tire is specially designed for highways, delivers minimum rolling resistance and helps you meet CO2 emission reduction targets.

Goodyear DriverHub is designed to provide drivers and fleet operators with a continuous stream of accurate tire data, optimizing their tire management practices. Paving the Way to Peak Performance in Truck Racing

In the world of truck racing, tire technology is paramount to a truck's performance. Goodyear's racing tires are based on the sturdy carcass of the standard 315/70R22.5 tire, meticulously adapted for enhanced stability and resistance. Critical factors include improving performance, preventing overheating, and increasing lateral stiffness. However, the tire tread takes center stage in truck racing, providing excellent grip on both wet and dry surfaces, ensuring consistent performance across the various climates and track conditions of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship's host countries. The asymmetric design of the tire shoulders ensures high stability on straights and handling on curves, while sipes in the tread, combined with a special rubber compound, deliver superior traction and consistent tire properties.

Goodyear has also introduced tire retreading into the life cycle of racing tires used in Goodyear FIA ETRC, transforming them into standard on-road Goodyear tires suitable for transportation fleets. This sustainable approach aligns with the championship's dedication to environmental responsibility.

At each event, teams assemble the tires in a specially equipped service area, and RFID technology is employed to ensure compliance with regulations.

The Power of Race Trucks

Today's race trucks bear little resemblance to their road-bound counterparts. These modified two-axle tractor units run solo without a trailer or load. A standard road tractor weighs around 40 tonnes with a trailer and full load, boasts an engine power of approximately 480 hp, and a torque of 2,300 Nm, with speed capped at 80-90 km/h. In contrast, a race truck, weighing 5.5 tonnes, churns out a power output of approximately 1,500 hp and torque of 5,000 Nm and requires water-cooled brakes. While the maximum speed must not exceed 160 km/h, race trucks can accelerate from 0 to 160 km/h, which is similar to current sports cars.

What sets Goodyear FIA ETRC apart is its commitment to sustainability. Since 2021, all race trucks have transitioned to 100% sustainable fuel, HVO100 biodiesel. This milestone makes Goodyear FIA ETRC the first FIA-regulated competition to adopt this premium fossil-free diesel product derived entirely from renewable raw materials. HVO, or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is produced through the hydrotreatment of vegetable oils and animal fats, resulting in a high-quality fuel with a chemical structure almost identical to regular diesel. It can be used without any modifications in a standard combustion engine.

Goodyear POWERLOAD®

The POWERLOAD® tire series is designed to optimize the productivity, durability and cost-effective operation of compact wheel loaders and small grader machines for more efficient and sustainable operations. It is equipped with Smooth Guard Technology™ including an extra thick and smooth rubber layer of protection in the shoulder area and sidewall. It gives the tire greater durability.  In addition, the new tire series has a reinforced sidewall construction giving increased stability and easier manoeuvrability. The tire's tread pattern is not directional, so it can be mounted on any wheel position. The Goodyear POWERLOAD® offers excellent off-road traction and directional stability.

GP-3E

The GP-3E is specially designed for wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and graders. With its special Goodyear Type 6 rubber compound, it provides increased abrasion resistance and thus lowers operators’ tire costs. At the same time, the model impresses with a reduced overall weight compared to its predecessors. The special construction is proven to optimise tread wear, contributing to Goodyear's goal of maximising efficiency and sustainability without sacrificing tire performance. The GP-3E tread pattern achieves high levels of traction with additional biting edges, dual centreline lugs and an increased lug count. At the same time, the tread is designed to support a high level of flotation by distributing weight evenly. The advanced tread pattern, combined with the new carcass construction, also offers improved levels of operator comfort - a bonus during long shifts in challenging climates.

Omnitrac Heavy Duty

The Omnitrac Heavy Duty tire series has been especially developed for tippers and other heavy-duty trucks driving short distances on public roads but predominately operating in challenging unpaved working environments such as on construction sites and in mines and quarries. The Omnitrac Heavy Duty Series focuses on vehicles that work predominantly in heavy terrain, covering only short distances on paved roads. At the same time, it offers improved fuel efficiency and connectivity with tire management systems.

TL-4A

The TL-4A is an OTR tire for articulated dump trucks and scrapers. With this tire, the manufacturer meets the growing number of higher capacity vehicles. The tire's high tread depth provides excellent traction on muddy and soft surfaces. The TL-4A is available in two versions in size 33.25 R 29 with a belt made of high-strength steel for improved resistance to punctures.

TPMS Heavy Duty

Goodyear has many years of experience in the development of Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).  At steinexpo, the company will present the enhanced TPMS Heavy Duty. The system communicates with drivers and fleet managers via two apps, Goodyear FleetHub and Goodyear DriverHub, which provide predictive tire data and helpful information for proactive and preventive maintenance of their fleets.

The Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship is set for another action-packed season when it kicks off at Misano on 20th/21st May.

Europe’s premier truck racing category will visit nine race circuits across Europe, including a new venue in Poznań, Poland on 24th and 25th June and some of the continent’s most historic motorsport circuits, including the Nürburgring Grand Prix layout in July and Le Mans in September. A total of 32 races will determine who takes the 2023 championship crown.

As the official single tire supplier of the championship, all competitors use the latest Goodyear truck racing tires, ensuring an equal platform for competition.

Delivering performance and sustainability

Truck racing tires use a combination of technologies developed by Goodyear for motorsport and the road. Enhanced technologies that are used in Goodyear FIA ETRC are not dissimilar to the tires used on highways across Europe.

Goodyear has developed a stronger carcass that provides commercial vehicles with a greater level of protection and robustness. The Goodyear truck racing tire has a similar 315/70R22.5 size and similar features as many Goodyear on-road products but has a specific tread compound and unique asymmetrical design.

Trucks weigh significantly more than a conventional race car, meaning the tire needs to combine the strength of a commercial truck tire with the performance characteristics of a racing tire. Tires play an important role in supporting championships to operate sustainably. For example, Goodyear helps to reduce waste in the championship by extending the life of its tires through retreading. Tires used in the Goodyear FIA ETRC are then reused into standard on-road products that can be used by transportation fleets. The practice is widespread in the trucking industry, but Goodyear leads the way when applying it to motorsport.

In recognition of efforts to make truck racing more sustainable, the European Truck Racing Championship recently received notable mention in the Sustainable Championships Index™ (SChI™)^[1]. It ranked 16th out of 105 motorsport championships for its sustainable solutions and approach to racing.

Alongside all truck racing events this season, Goodyear’s showroom from the Drive Results Tour 2023 will be present. It will offer an interactive experience that showcases many of Goodyear’s current tires and mobility solutions combined in Goodyear’s Total Mobility offer.

In 2022, the survey revealed that fleets are increasingly conscious of sustainability, with investments increasing year-on-year. Not only do fleets now see sustainability as a worthwhile social cause, but many are also seeing bottom-line improvements.

Now in its third year, the survey has become a trusted source of information for the logistics industry, collating in depth information regarding the future of logistics and transportation.

Tires and mobility solutions have an important role to play

The survey is interested in fleets’ approach to sustainability in different contexts. From understanding the latest environmental regulations, formalising sustainability objectives and measurements or using new solutions and technologies, including tires and mobile solutions. Many European fleets using Goodyear’s Total Mobility offering have already seen enhanced performance and support in sustainability efforts. For example, using Goodyear’s FUELMAX ENDURANCE tires can support delivering up to a 2% reduction in CO2, which equates to saving 40,000 litres of fuel per year for a 100-vehicle fleet¹. Additionally, mobility solutions like Goodyear TPMS, Goodyear CheckPoint or Goodyear DrivePoint can support faster and easier fleet management resulting in increased efficiency, effectiveness and supporting sustainability goals of fleets.

Last year, 54% of interviewed fleets said that fuel-efficient tires are part of their sustainability strategy, second only to deploying more efficient vehicles. In the past fleet operators had been forced to choose between durability, grip, fuel efficiency and mileage, but the latest Goodyear products and mobility solutions offered under Goodyear Total Mobility help to achieve the right balance and drive better results for the fleets.

Norbert, how do you feel about the upcoming Goodyear FIA ETRC season?

I feel good about 2023. I think we had a really nice season at Goodyear FIA ETRC last year and a year which we can build on. We had many good experiences and learned a lot. For sure there are some things we can improve and be better!

What was the most remarkable moment you can recall from 2022?

The most remarkable moment for us, for sure, was the weekend at the Hungaroring. With the crash we had on Saturday and then the repair overnight to come back and take the pole position and a double win on Sunday was just a crazy two days.

What is the role of tires during the race and how much can they influence final results achieved by drivers?

Tires are very important, of course. I think it is very important to have a level of opportunity for everyone and I think Goodyear is making a great job in that with the tire lottery and the quality of the tires to keep it even for all. And then, of course, it is up to the teams with the setup of the truck and suspension and tires to extract the best performance which is always an exciting thing to figure out.

What would you say to all the truck racing fans who look forward to the season start in May?

I think truck racing is best when you come and visit the races. To see these huge machines on the circuits in real life - it is just amazing to see. Even after doing it for more than 10 years I am always amazed when I stop on the side of the circuit for some issue and to see the others from the outside. I think it's the most spectacular of all motorsports with easy access for the fans!

Sustainability and cost efficiency will continue to drive the adoption of mobility solutions for fleets

According to Goodyear’s latest Sustainable Reality Survey[1] conducted in 2022, fleets are continuing to recognise the importance of sustainable investments, with 41% of fleets saying that reducing operational costs was a significant factor when considering new solutions. This is an increase from 32% in the 2021 edition of the survey. On average, 41% of fleets see sustainability as an opportunity to lower operating costs. This is a 28% increase of the number reported in 2021.

There is also evidence that fleets have become even more sensitive to costs in the current economic climate. Compared to 2021, the number of fleets asking for financial incentives rose by 4%. Interactive showroom truck to experience Goodyear Total Mobility

With the Drive Results Tour, Goodyear wants to address fleets challenges and show that effective sustainable solutions don’t have to be complex revenue trade-offs. The interactive showroom has been completely updated since the 2022 tour, offering an even more immersive customer experience and comprehensive overview of Goodyear’s products and solutions. To offer visitors an enhanced experience, the Drive Results showroom will include an engaging mix of physical and virtual features.

Visitors can experience not only the latest tires but all the mobility solutions like Goodyear TPMS, Goodyear CheckPoint or Goodyear DrivePoint. They are all connected with the modern web and mobile applications, powered with data processing, demonstrating Goodyear’s expertise in supporting transport fleets in the future and demanding transport ecosystem. 

Packed into a busy schedule, the tour will attend a wide variety of events, from the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) to exhibitions specializing in truck, fleet and logistical operations. The Drive Results Tour begins at Transport 2023 in Herning, Denmark on 20^th April. It will then continue to several logistic-focused shows. After taking a prime spot at the first round of the Goodyear FIA ETRC season in Misano, Italy, it will continue its presence at all the races of this season[2].
