Romain Febvre takes third consecutive MXGP victory on Dunlop

Romain Febvre continued his winning run to take the overall victory in MXGP of Czech Republic, using the latest Dunlop Geomax MX34

Febvre added another win to his recent run of success in the FIM Motocross World Championship with a third consecutive victory. Having taken the overall victory at both Indonesian rounds at Sumbawa and Lombok, Febvre returned to Europe with the same stunning form, demonstrating the pace of his Dunlop-shod Kawasaki across both races.

It promised to be a perfect weekend for The Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team rider, but an incident towards the end of the second race set him back while leading comfortably. He strengthens his hold on second in the world championship standings.

In the first race, Febvre pulled away from Jeremy Seewer and championship leader Jorge Prado in the first phase of the race, before fending off Seewer to win by 0.8 seconds.

In race two, Febvre found himself in third place after the opening exchanges, but quickly found his way past Prado and Seewer with immense pace early on. A later mistake dropped him down to fourth place, where he would remain for the rest of the race. He ended the weekend with 43 championship points, one more than both championship rivals Prado and Seewer.

Speaking to Eurosport after the race, Febvre spoke of disappointment at not completing the perfect weekend, but was still in the mood to celebrate his third consecutive overall victory: “That [second race] should have been mine, but that’s racing. Disappointed, but happy to win the GP.”

In MX2, it was a strong weekend for Dunlop riders, with a double podium in race one for Kevin Horgmo and Kay de Wolf.

Dunlop riders competing in MXGP are used to inform the development path of the next generation of Dunlop’s motocross range. At Loket, riders used the latest Geomax MX34 for the track’s hard and slick clay surface.

Geomax MX34 was developed in collaboration with teams and world championship-level riders. An optimised block design and updated compound gives enhanced traction and durability compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, larger spacing between blocks achieves superior mud evacuation.

It’s this collaboration with riders and teams that allows Dunlop to provide a comprehensive range of motocross tires that are approved by championship-winning riders.

Wim Van Achter, Motorsport Manager, Dunlop: “We’re delighted to see the continued form of Romain Febvre and The Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team. Three overall victories for Dunlop tires demonstrate the performance and quality of our motocross range and the race-winning technology and expertise that goes into every Dunlop tire.”

The FIM Motocross World Championship continues in Lommel, Belgium, for its next round on 23rd July.
