MXGP Finland: Five wins in five for Febvre on Dunlop

An impressive Romain Febvre claimed his fifth consecutive victory in MXGP, taking the overall win in Vantaa, Finland on Sunday.

Dunlop rider Romain Febvre has claimed victory in the MXGP round at Vantaa, taking the top step of the podium for the fifth time in five rounds. Febvre was victorious in the first race and finished second in race 2, claiming the overall victory at the sandy Finnish track. The Kawasaki Racing Team rider used Geomax MX34 front and MX14 rear tires, allowing him to navigate the sandy terrain on the newly refurbished track.

After qualifying second on Saturday, Febvre quickly found his way to the lead of the first race, and was able to maintain it throughout. During the second race, Febvre patiently sat in second behind Prado, knowing that a second place finish would allow him to claim the victory overall.

The Frenchman wasn’t the only Dunlop rider who was successful during the weekend, however. Nestaan Husqvarna MX2 rider Lucas Coenen finished third on the podium in race 2 after a race-long thrilling battle with Liam Everts. Coenen passed Everts for the podium position on the last lap, claiming third place overall.

Febvre is second in the MXGP World Championship standings, and will be hoping for his run of success to continue so that he can close the gap to Prado in first.

Wim Van Achter, Motorsport Manager, Dunlop: “The MXGP of Finland showcased the exceptional performance of our Dunlop tires and riders once again. Congratulations to Febvre for his fifth consecutive MXGP win - that is a remarkable achievement. I am delighted that our tires are able to facilitate these riders and their successes in this World Championship. It is a testament to the quality and capability of our MX34 and MX14 tires.”

The FIM Motocross World Championship continues in Sweden for its next round on 13th August.
