Hickman wins Macau Grand Prix on Dunlop tyres

- Macau Grand Prix hat-trick for Hickman

- Race won on 'commercially available' Dunlop KR slicks.

Peter Hickman ended his road racing season in style by winning the Macau Grand Prix. This gives Hickman the unofficial road racing 'Grand Slam' after taking wins at in the Superstock North West 200, Superstock Isle of Man TT, the Senior Isle of Man TT and the Ulster Grand Prix.

The Team Aspire Ho by Bathams BMW rider took pole position, but was passed by 8 time Macau winner Michael Rutter at the start. Hickman, the 2015 and 2016 winner, launched an attack on Rutter on lap three and immediately pulled away in the lead.

Hickman's team praised the consistent performance of the Dunlop KR106 front and KR108 rear tyres, commenting during his charge that "it does help to know he is on that epic Dunlop tyre. They’ve helped him take a win in every international road race this year".

Significantly, the Dunlop KR range is a commercially available tyre, rather than a bespoke development tyre. Dunlop's Motorsport Manager Wim Van Achter explained: "Trackday riders and club racers can obtain Dunlop KR tyres from their local dealer. It is a slick tyre that includes technology cascaded from our development tyres, but giving a confidence-inspiring wide operating window. This makes the tyre a popular choice for experienced racers like Hickman, as well as being versatile enough for a broader range of riding styles".
