Go Further This Summer: Goodyear Blimp coming to Milan

  • Goodyear Blimp to fly over Milan on 15 - 17 July
  • Blimp to provide aerial coverage for WEC 6 Hours of Monza on 18 July
  • Passenger flights over Milan’s landmarks will take place

After last year's return to the skies, the Goodyear Blimp is visiting many more cities and events in 2021, including the historic Italian city of Milan. The airship will fly over the famous city as well as the 6 Hours of Monza round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), providing motorsport fans with aerial coverage of the race.

The legendary Blimp will visit Milan on 15 July, where it will stay for the following two days. On 18 July, the Goodyear brand ambassador will fly over the WEC 6 Hours of Monza, allowing fans of endurance racing to spot the icon in the sky. For everyone watching the race from home, the action seen from the Goodyear Blimp will be part of the live broadcast on the Eurosport 2 channel, as well as the Eurosport Player platform (www.eurosportplayer.com). Passengers will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to board the Blimp and fly over Milan’s landmarks. Goodyear returned to WEC in 2019 and after two class wins has been appointed as the exclusive tire partner of the LMP2 prototype category.

On the way to Milan, the Blimp will take a three day journey, flying over a number of locations, including Memmingen, Munich, and Wels (12 July); St. Pölten, Hartberg, Celje, Ljubljana, and Gorizia (13 July); Venice, Padua, Verona, and Milan (14 July).

The Blimp operating in Europe is a Goodyear-branded Zeppelin NT semi-rigid airship. This model is the largest of its kind in the world today. Seen in the skies since the 1910s, the tire manufacturer’s brand ambassador not only provides once-in-a-lifetime experiences but is also used for the coverage of major events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Malachy Tuohy, Head of Communications, Consumer Europe, said that “We’re really happy to bring the Goodyear Blimp to Italy. This iconic airship that many people love will allow them to see the 6 Hours of Monza from a different perspective and also bring fans closer to the Goodyear brand.”
