First Women's MX World Championship Win for Verstappen

It was a strong weekend for Dunlop Geomax teams in the Netherlands round of World Motocross Grand Prix championship (MXGP), with the highlight being victory for Amandine Verstappen in the Women's World Championship (WMX) opener.

A full grid of 39 of the world’s best Women Motocross racers did battle on the Valkenswaard circuit. When WMX Race 1 started, 19 year old Verstappen took the holeshot, leading until lap three when fellow Dunlop rider, Courtney Duncan, surged into the lead to win.

However in race 2,  Duncan made a mistake on one of the jumps. The New Zealander recovered, but it wasn't enough to deny Verstappen her maiden win.

In MXGP, the Dunlop highlight was a strong fightback from Monster Energy Kawasaki star Clement Desalle to clinch second place. reinforcing his top three overall World ranking. The stunning ride came after a difficult start in Race 2, where the Belgian was caught in traffic dropping him to the lower reaches of the Top Ten.

Across the Atlantic, Dunlop's Supercross Elite Team members also shone, with KTM's Cooper Webb winning the 450SX event to extend his championship lead with Dylan Ferrandis winning the 250SX class on his Yamaha.
