Febvre and Dunlop continue winning streak in the sand of Lommel

Kawasaki rider claims his fourth win in as many GPs as Dunlop continues Lommel success with Geomax MX14

Romain Febvre secured his fourth consecutive FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) victory on Sunday, claiming victory in the deep sand of Lommel with his Dunlop Geomax MX14 tires.

The Kawasaki Racing Team rider’s latest victory was secured through a win in the day’s first moto and a hard-fought comeback in the second race. By passing more than ten other riders on his way back up to second, the 31-year-old put on a stellar show for the Belgian fans.

While it has been recently revamped, Lommel maintains its signature deep sand, which makes it one of the most challenging tracks on the calendar. Dunlop Geomax MX14 was designed for sand tracks, giving Febvre the traction he needed on this changeable surface.

This success marks Dunlop’s third successive MXGP win at Lommel. In 2021, a development version of Geomax MX14 took Febvre to the victory in the sand, and it was also the tire of choice for Brian Bogers’ first Grand Prix win at the track last year.

Febvre’s continued winning streak this season solidifies his hold on second place in the championship. With six rounds to go, the main title is still all to play for. Action resumes next weekend with the MXGP of Finland.

Wim Van Achter, Motorsport Manager, Dunlop: “Congratulations once again to Febvre for another win, which was achieved on one of MXGP’s most demanding circuits. As well as providing the traction for his recent run of success, we are proud that Dunlop has been the tire of choice for the last three GPs at Lommel, which underlines the prowess of Geomax MX14 on sand tracks.”
