Dunlop riders continue winning streak at MXGP of The Netherlands

Dunlop riders have continued their run of success in 2023 with victories in MXGP, MX2 and WMX.

Romain Febvre took his sixth overall FIM Motocross World Championship victory of the season with a second and first place finish in the two Sunday races at Arnhem in The Netherlands.

In MXGP race one, the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team rider took the lead from Jorge Prado on lap eight, but briefly came to a halt a few laps later. He managed to get going again following the frustrating delay and returned to an exceptional pace to finish second.

In the second race, Febvre won the holeshot and never looked back, managing his lead throughout to finish ahead of Jeremy Seewer.

Over the weekend, riders used Dunlop’s latest Geomax MX34 front and Geomax MX14 rear tire to handle the soft, sandy surface of the Arnhem track. Dunlop works with some of the fastest motocross riders to develop the next generation of motocross tires.

Dunlop’s latest run of success has been helped by Geomax MX14, which uses an optimised block design and an updated compound to give enhanced traction and durability on sand. It helped Febvre get the holeshot in race two, setting him up for a dominant ride. It’s this collaboration with riders and teams that allows Dunlop to provide a comprehensive range of motocross tires that are approved by championship-winning riders.

Further Dunlop triumph in MX2, WMX

It was also a successful weekend for Dunlop MX2 rider Lucas Coenen, and could have been a perfect weekend without a mistake in race one. However, an incredible comeback saw the Husqvarna rider fight back up the order to finish sixth. With a victory in the qualifying race on Saturday and a scintillating race two, it was enough to finish second overall.

In the WMX Motocross World Championship, Dutch rider Lotte van Drunen won her first-ever overall motocross Grand Prix with a dominant weekend and two race wins. The home rider had an even better race two, taking the lead from the start and building an advantage of more than 40 seconds by the checkered flag.

Wim Van Achter, Motorsport Manager, Dunlop: “2023 has been an incredible year for Dunlop riders so far. Congratulations to our MXGP of The Netherlands winners Romain Febvre, Lucas Coenen and Lotte Van Drunen for their exceptional performance across the weekend. Their success demonstrates the performance and quality of Dunlop’s motocross range.”

The FIM Motocross World Championship continues in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, for its next round on 3rd September.
