Dunlop LMP2 WEC teams looking to extend championship advantage

After a very strong race in Japan, when Dunlop LMP2 teams took a 17th consecutive clean sweep in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the teams head to China for the 6 Hours of Shanghai, the last race of 2018. The SuperSeason will continue in March, and Dunlop’s teams will be keen to build on their points advantage in the standings before the break, with Jackie Chan DC Racing looking to reward fans on home ground.

 

Following the mid-point of the 2018/19 WEC calendar, Le Mans winner Signatech Alpine Matmut leads by just one point ahead of the pair of Jackie Chan DC Racing Orecas which are tied on points and have performed strongly with two 1-2 finishes in the last two outings. The result marked Signatech Alpine’s 20^th WEC podium finish and Jackie Chan DC Racing’s 5^th race win.

 

Shanghai’s circuit contains two long big radius corners and, with a very old open surface, is known to be quite aggressive. Dunlop’s engineers have nominated the ‘A’ and ‘B’ (soft and medium) specifications, with four of the seven class entries choosing to race on Dunlop tyres.

 

An LMP2 WEC win in China would bring Dunlop’s tally to a total of 55, of which 45 would be consecutive.

 

The 6 Hours of Shanghai starts at 11:00 local time  (3:00 GMT/4:00 CET) on Sunday 18^th November.

Having had a strong European Le Mans Series season where we claimed the top-two positions in the series, we would like to see our teams increase their points advantage again as we go into the Christmas break.
