Dunlop chosen by Champions in Nürburgring VLN-Endurance Series

• VLN title for Michael Schrey in the BMW M235i Racing
• Adrenaline Motorsport wins the VLN production car trophy
• Phoenix Racing finishes third in the final

Dunlop and BMW customer team, Bonk Motorsport, have won the VLN long-distance championship 2017. Michael Schrey defended his title on his Dunlop-shod BMW M235i Racing. The 34-year-old from Wallenhorst celebrated six class victories in a series on the way to a repeat of his 2016 win. At the same time, he did not take part in the race in the heavily occupied Cup5 class without second drivers.  "I still can not believe that it has worked out again," Schrey stated after the gripping final race. "It was incredibly close at the top this year."

"Congratulations to the entire team at Bonk Motorsport for the successful title defence in the VLN long-distance championship," said Alexander Kühn, product manager Dunlop Motorsport EMEA. "A very big compliment goes to Michael Schrey, who mostly attacked the BMW's races alone without a co-driver. This performance is hugely impressive’

Dunlop is a Technical Partner of BMW Motorsport and, as an exclusive tyre partner, equips all participants in the BMW M235i Racing Cup which races within the VLN. The VLN, which takes place exclusively at the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife features many classes of cars. In the production car trophy, the Adrenalin Motorsport trio of Norbert Fischer, Christian Konnerth and Daniel Zils made it a double success for Dunlop in the overall VLN score with their eighth class win and also won the class title.

In the battle in the top GT3 based category, the Audi Phoenix-Racing team was setting the pace on Dunlop. Their Audi R8 LMS snatched pole position with a time of 7: 59.893 minutes. The fastest race for Frank Stippler, Christian Mamerow and the Dutchman Robin Frijns was also recorded in the race with 7: 59.388 minutes.

This rounds off a tremendously successful year on the Nordschleife for Dunlop , with the highlight being a thrilling overall victory in the 24h in May with the Land Motorsport Audi .
