Dunlop teams bidding to be crowned Endurance World Cup Superstock winners in Slovakia
- Two Dunlop teams battling for Endurance World Cup at finale
- 15 of 30 teams have chosen Dunlop tyres
- New track brings additional practice time and sees tyre restrictions lifted
The penultimate round of the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) takes place at the Slovakiaring on Saturday 24th June. As a new track on the calendar, tyre restrictions have been lifted for the event for teams to acclimatise to the new track and gather data to help optimise the tyre and bike packages. Riders have a total of 14 hours of free practice on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the event to learn the track. 15 of the 30 teams have chosen to race on Dunlop tyres.
While the EWC teams have a season finale at Suzuka in July, one of the classes within the championship has its finale next week. The winners of the Endurance World Cup for Superstock will be crowned at the Slovakiaring. There are three Cup title contenders remaining, the top two both opting for Dunlop tyres. Moto Ain CRT (Yamaha) lead with 63 points while Tati Team Beaujolais Racing (Kawasaki) are just six points behind.
The main Endurance World Championship is just as close; the top two in the standings are also on Dunlop tyres. Seven points separate current leaders, and defending champions, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team from GMT94 Yamaha. The 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring will be key to gaining points in the standings as the season finale in Japan sees a high contingent of strong local factory bikes that compete for points with the regular EWC contenders.
Dunlop Independents’ Trophy
In addition to increasing the lead on Tati Team Beaujolais at Oschersleben, Moto Ain CRT were the Dunlop Independent Trophy winners. Ten registered Dunlop Independent Trophy teams will be riding for the cash prizes as well as championship points in Slovakia.
The 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring race begins at 14.00 CEST on Saturday 24th June. The full entry list can be found at fimewc.com.
