Dunlop Supersport victory gives Michael Dunlop TT win #14

  • Dunlop riders finish first and third in Monster Energy Supersport TT
  • First Dunlop victory of the year for lap record holder marks his 14th TT win
  • Peter Hickman completes Supersport TT podium in third
  • Six Dunlop riders in the top nine

Bad weather continued to play its part in upsetting the race schedule for the Isle of Man TT this year, but Dunlop riders returned to the podium with victory and third place in the Monster Energy Supersport TT.

Mountain Course absolute lap record holder Michael Dunlop took his first win of the TT with victory on Dunlop’s commerically available tyres. His win on his MD Racing Yamaha brought a smile back to the Northern Ireland rider’s face, after a non-finish in yesterday’s Superbike race, and put the Dunlop rider‘s winning total to 14, his 20th podium finish.

After celebrating his first ever TT podium yesterday, Peter Hickman brought his Trooper Beer Triumph home in third. By his own admission Hickman didn’t have the best opening lap, but pushed hard over the remaining three laps to extend the gap over fourth placed William Dunlop (IC Racing Yamaha).

Fifth place went to yesterday’s RST Superbike winner Ian Hutchinson on his Mcams Yamaha. Padgett’s Racing rider Bruce Anstey brought his Honda home in seventh place, with team-mate, Manxman Conor Cummins in ninth.

“It’s been another successful day for Dunlop, with victory in the Supersport race to add to our win in yesterday’s Superbike race,” said Dominic Clifford, Motorcycle Manager, Dunlop UK. “Dunlop has a great history at the TT, we work closely with our riders and teams to give them the very best product we can, and the results speak for themselves. It’s early days, and we still have five races left but the event has started well for us and we’ll continue to work hard to provide the best service.”
