France beckons Dunlop's ELMS teams after summer break

  • Soft, Medium and Medium-plus compounds nominated across both Dunlop classes
  • Title battles at key point in series for front-runners

The European Le Mans Series (ELMS) kicks off racing after the European summer break with the Four Hours of Le Castellet in the south of France on 27th August.

The Paul Ricard circuit will host the 35 entries, 16 of which will be racing on Dunlop tyres. The 5.81km track includes five left and eight right turns and will include a chicane on the ultra-fast back straight. Extensive testing in recent years means that teams have good information on initial set-ups, however this is the first visit for the new regulation, higher-powered prototype cars.

The heat and track conditions see Dunlop nominating the Medium and Medium-plus tyres for the LMP2 prototypes. G-Drive Racing (Oreca) and United Autosports (Ligier) are at the top end of the standings with High Class Racing (Dallara), Dragonspeed (Oreca) and Graff (Oreca) only needing the leaders to have one bad result to put them in contention with three rounds remaining. The top seven teams in the standings have chosen to race on Dunlop tyres and are looking to continue the clean sweep of podiums this season.

The all-Dunlop LM GTE class will have the choice of Soft and Medium options in France.

TF Sport (Aston Martin) continues to lead with JMW Motorsport (Ferrari) only six points behind. Spirit of Race (Ferrari) became the third different race winner in three rounds in Austria and are third.

The European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Le Castellet starts at midday local time on Sunday 27th August.
