Double podium for Dunlop riders in Superstock

  • Dunlop riders first and second in RL360 Quantum Superstock
  • Hutchinson secures 16th TT win
  • Third successive podium for Hickman
  • Dunlop riders occupy seven of 12 podiums

Dunlop riders filled the top two places in the RL360 Quantum Superstock race on day three of the Isle of Man TT race week. Ian Hutchinson continued his winning ways with a resounding victory on the Tyco BMW, to take his 16th TT win, his fifth Superstock victory and his second this week following victory in Superbikes on Sunday.

Joining the ‘Bingley Bullet’ on the podium was Peter Hickman, on his Smiths Racing BMW, continuing a superb 2017 TT so far for the Lincoln racer. For Hickman, on only his fourth year at the Island, the result marked a third successive podium finish following his second place in Superbike and third in Supersport.

Supersport winner Michael Dunlop brought his MD Racing Suzuki home in sixth just ahead of his brother William, on his Temple Golf Club Yamaha. David Johnson finished eighth on his Fleetwood Grab Services BMW.

In the Bennetts Lightweight race, Hickman continued his fine form for a fourth successive trip up the podium steps, after finishing third in the four lap race, ahead of Dafabet Devitt RC Express Racing’s Ivan Lintin on the Kawasaki. Michael Dunlop came home seventh on his McAdoo Racing Kawasaki.

“We enjoyed another successful day across the Superstock and Lightweight classes, with Dunlop riders now occupying seven of 12 possible podium places from the four races,” said Dominic Clifford, Motorcycle Manager, Dunlop UK. “Once again our technicians have been working closely with the teams and riders and we are all very happy with the results we have been able to achieve in the opening three race days. As the riders get more track time we can see that the laps are getting ever closer to the absolute record that Michael [Dunlop] set last year.”
