2nd May 2016 - Sensational success on the Nordschleife: Dunlop and Phoenix Racing celebrated their second consecutive victory in the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring. After a compelling four-hour race the Dunlop-equipped Audi R8 LMS of Frank Stippler and Anders Fjordbach won in very changeable weather conditions, repeating their win in the opening race. After 28 laps on the 24km Eifel circuit, the margin of victory was 57.8 seconds, setting the fastest lap of the race (8m 05,695s)

During the race, the winning Audi used the full Dunlop range of Sport Maxx Slick, Intermediate and Full Wet tires. The Phoenix Audi team paid tribute to Dunlop's role in the success:

"We are very happy about the second victory," Stippler said, adding:  "The key to success today was a great balance in the car. Whether wet or dry, Dunlop provided the right racing tires”

“In the partially wet segments of the race we were able to keep the Dunlop slick on temperature while the competition struggled more with their tires" explained Fjordbach.

"Kudos to Dunlop. In particular, in the dry we were competitive today" added Phoenix team boss Ernst Moser. The Phoenix Audi R8 LMS marked by an extremely strong field of participants the fastest lap.

"In qualifying there were five Dunlop teams with four different car models in the first seven starting positions. And then the second victory in the second race - just great, "said Alexander Kühn, OE Manager Dunlop Motorsport EMEA. "The race was ideal preparation for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in late May, in which similar weather conditions can be expected."

First start for the Aston Martin Racing and Dunlop partnership on the Nordschleife
