New Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 makes appearance on Jaguar XF - Four homologations for Goodyear’s new UHP tire
Brussels Belgium - 17 March 2016 Goodyear is proud to announce that a number of new Jaguar XF vehicles will come fitted with the latest ultra-high performance tire in the Goodyear portfolio - the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3.The tire will be fitted in sizes 225/55R17 101Y XL, 245/45R18 100Y XL, 245/40R19 98Y XL and 255/35R20 97Y XL on the XF, all of which will be J marked, indicating tires tested and homologated by Jaguar.
The XF is one of the first vehicles in Europe to be fitted with Goodyear’s brand new UHP tire as OE fitment and development of the tire and vehicle was carried out simultaneously between Goodyear and Jaguar.
At the beginning of the development process for the XF, Jaguar set key tire performance directives for Goodyear to deliver on. These included high dry and wet handling capability, short braking distance, low rolling resistance for reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as well as comfort and ride, without any trade-off in other performance criteria.
Goodyear’s new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 answered all of these criteria. The tire provided Jaguar with significant wet grip and braking distance improvement with the use of innovative compound technology. A high level of handling, low noise and comfort in conjunction with low rolling resistance was achieved by using state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to enable light gauges for weight reduction, Goodyear were able to exceed the targets set by Jaguar within this area. Pattern stiffness optimization ensured that the tire performed excellently in dry handling tests.*
