Dunlop's Le Mans 24h in numbers

Dunlop’s 2016 Le Mans in numbers

Winning Le Mans requires maximum time on track – which means minimum pit-stop times. Dunlop’s advances in tyre technology and durability have helped teams to reduce time spent in the pits by not needing to change tyres at each fuel stop. For each stop without needing to change tyres, a team saves around 25 seconds. The top two LMP2 teams finished just over 2.5 minutes apart so multiple stints on the same tyres can be a deciding factor on winning the race.

In 2015 two Dunlop LMP2 teams were the able to quadruple stint in the Le Mans race for the first time. The all-new 2016 tyre range gave another step forward with 15 Dunlop teams able to lap on the same tyres for four stints, and two teams opting to drive for an unprecedented five stints.

7 – Top LMP2 finishers

6 LMP2 manufacturers in top 7

0.420 – seconds per lap quicker than 2015 LMP2 fastest lap (Merhi 3’36.259)

8175 race laps completed on Dunlop tyres

140,883 kilometres completed from free practice to the end of the race (87540 miles)

252 million tyre revolutions during race week

30 lead changes in LMP2 – all on Dunlop tyres

231 laps led by Signatech Alpine LMP2 (64.7% of the race)

7 different class leaders on Dunlop tyres

15 teams quadruple stinted

2 teams used same tyres for 5 stints
