- Win is Dunlop’s 13th consecutive Senior TT victory
- John McGuinness takes 46th TT podium
- Four Dunlop-shod riders in the top six
- Tyres of choice on nine different makes of bike
- 40 of 72 Senior TT riders on Dunlop tyres
Dunlop reaffirmed its reputation as the most successful tyre company in Isle of Man TT history, by taking its 13th successive Senior TT win around the iconic Mountain course. In doing so, the tyre company also smashed its own absolute record as tyre supplier to Michael Dunlop who took a convincing win in the Poker Stars Senior TT.
His victory completes the big bike double for both Dunlop and Michael following their record-breaking win in Saturday’s RST Superbike race, in a record time today of 1:43.56.129s, and another record lap of 133.962mph.
Michael’s opening lap was inside the Senior TT lap record, just shy of his own absolute record set on Saturday. Consistently setting fastest sector times over the opening lap, he went even faster on lap two, pitting for new Dunlop tyres he still managed to smash his own record to the cheers of the massive crowds. The Northern Irishman was quite simply in a class of his own aboard the Hawk Racing BMW, as he finished over half a minute ahead at the finish.
Joining Michael on the podium, after a superb run and two super-quick tyre stops was Honda Racing’s John McGuinness, who fought back from ninth on the opening lap to finish third. The result sees the Morecambe Missile extend his record-setting podium places to 46, and securing a double big bike podium this week.
Valvoline Racing by Padgett’s Motorcycles racer Bruce Anstey brought the stunning MotoGP replica Honda RCV213S home in a strong fifth place with McGuinness’ Honda Racing team-mate Conor Cummins in sixth. All four Dunlop-shod riders selected the same compound for the race which was held in near-perfect conditions with a road temperature of 30 degrees.
'No other race event tests a motorcycle, rider and tyre like the TT. High speeds, with a combination of fast corners, blind crests and a mix of real road surfaces, make it a true test of high speed stability , grip and braking performance. Dunlop is proud to have been chosen by the winners of the Superbike and Senior TT races. It caps a successful week where we were also chosen by the top three in the EWC Portimao 12hours' stated Xavier Fraipont, Managing Director, Dunlop Motorcycle and Motorsport
