Tati Team Beaujolais wins FIM Endurance World Cup

  • Superstock 1-2-3 for Dunlop in Championship & Oschersleben race
  • GMT94 Yamaha salvages third to keep championship hopes alive

Tati Team Beaujolais has won the FIM Endurance World Cup for Superstock teams. The squad finished third in class, and eight overall, at today’s 8 Hours of Oschersleben. Moto Ain won the class, followed by Junior Team LMS Suzuki to complete a Dunlop podium lock-out. Moto Ain’s points haul wasn’t enough to take the title from standings holders and the team finishes the season in third. Junior Team LMS Suzuki secured second in the championship. Tati Team Beaujolais scored points at every round with a big boost being provided by scoring 21 points for finishing eighth overall at the Bol d’Or. The result saw Dunlop teams secure the top three places in the 2017/18 title campaign.

While the Superstock class concluded the current season today, the EWC class in the FIM Endurance World Championship is set to be decided at the season finale, the Suzuka 8 Hours, next month. Dunlop’s title hopes lie with GMT94 Yamaha. GMT94 finished today’s race in third place and now has a ten-point deficit to overcome at the final round. The team was leading the race, a position that would have returned them to the top of the standings, but a pit-stop infringement brought a stop-and-go penalty. The squad recovered to second place but lost a position after a safety car period restart and then held third at the flag despite a last-lap accident trying to recover the lost spot. Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and Honda Endurance Racing finished 10th and 13th respectively after separate accidents.

In addition to winning the superstock class, Moto Ain was the Dunlop Independent Trophy winner, receiving €4000 of the total €20,000 prize fund shared between the top-ten registered teams. Tati Team Beaujolais took second prize followed by MOTOTECH-EWC in third.

Roland Wozniak, International Event Manager, Dunlop Motorsport

“The Superstock championship battle has been a good one this season and it is good to see the Dunlop teams having done so well. Many congratulations to Tati Team Beaujolais who delivered that all-important consistency and scored solid points at every round in addition to the great result from the Bol d’Or. It was a tough race for our factory teams. Of course it is disappointing for Honda Endurance Racing and SERT  [Suzuki Endurance Racing Team] to crash but our title hopes were also dealt a blow with GMT94’s misfortune today. A third place still scored good points though and, although difficult, a ten point overhaul at Suzuka isn’t impossible.”
