New Dunlop tyre colours to help Moto2 and Moto3 fans

  • Dunlop introduce full range of coloured sidewalls in Moto2 and Moto3
  • Successful trials in opening races of year
  • Clearer identification of tyre choice strategies for fans

After successful trials in the opening races of the 2017 FIM Moto2 and Moto3 World Championship, Dunlop has confirmed that their new coloured sidewall markings will be used throughout the 2017 season.

The tyre manufacturer has a range of seven different compounds in Moto2 and three in Moto3, and the riders are able to choose different compounds for the front and rear. Therefore, there’s a wide range of strategic options for the teams to choose from at each circuit.

“We received feedback from fans that it was difficult to identify which rider had chosen each tyre type, so we have responded by introducing a range of brightly coloured tyre sidewall markings. Many Moto2 and Moto3 races have been won because of a shrewd choice of tyre compound from the Dunlop range and this will help spectators, commentators and press see how the relative tyre strategies unfold during the races” stated James Bailey, Dunlop’s Motorsport Communications Director.
